This is a quote from my last blog entry:
"Please tell me why they think a teacher with credentials is better for my own child than me? They don't care about the moral upbringing of my child. They don't give a shit about his personality and how he learns the best. They don't care about my child the way I do. No one, besides my husband, loves my child the way I do. No one!"

1. I am not saying that a teacher does not care about children. I am stating that a teacher does not care about MY CHILD (or any child) as much as the parent of that child! Also, the morals a public school teacher has may or may not be the same as mine. I am a Christian and believe that moral upbringing in the name of Jesus Christ is imperative to a child's life and will not be had in a public school. Yes, it may be had in a private school setting, but still may not be taught the way I feel is accurate, according to the Bible, in all circumstances. Most people teach their child, "do this." or "Don't do that!" They fail to teach their children the Biblical reason as to why. Children should be taught WHY they need to be truthful. WHY they need to avoid lying. The funny thing is...most adults can't even tell you why. "As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else," is not a moral reason. NO ONE, NO ONE, can argue with me that a
20+ to 1 ratio in a school system is better than a 3 to 1 (my three children, to me) ratio. That is the best example of no child left behind!

2. Although teachers are being taught in college to adapt and work with individual students learning styles, one adult can only do so much with a room full of young minds. A smaller ratio in my home is a lot more effective and studies prove this. College students who were home schooled preform far better than those who are products of the public school systems. That can NOT be argued!!!

3. I agree that not all children are fortunate enough to have parents who care about their education, but just because those parents do not care, does not mean that I should face the reality of not being able to teach my child! I also agree that not all children have educational problems because of the school system itself.

I also want to say that just because someone is home schooled does not mean they lack social skills. They are not stuck in a basement with no one around them. In fact, many home schooled students have better social skills than those in public schools. It is also a known fact that home schooled students preform better in the work force. With numerous studies proving these facts, how can anyone argue that a parent is not equipped to homeschool? Lets face it 8 hours a day in school is absurd. when does a child get to be a child? My education professors have repeatedly said that only a few hours of the entire school day is actually learning while the rest is merely babysitting. Why so much babysitting? Because parents work 8 hours a day and it's a free babysitting service.

Again, the whole purpose of this blog is to say that it is NOT RIGHT to strip away a parents freedom to homeschool because some courts, teachers, and officials feel parents are not equipped to teach. Again, it does NOT take a genius or a four year degree to teach a child. It takes effort, hard work and a parent who cares! I took some of those classes, and many of them are just formalities and a giant waste of money and time. Granted, many are useful and I have learned from them and still use them with Caden and Alanna, but a four year degree is NOT required for the well being of a child's education.

Also note that I stated in my previous blog that not all school systems are the same as those in Elgin, IL. Everyone knows Elgin's school systems are horrible, but it is still a school system and not the only one I worked in. Not only did i do practicums in the schools, but I taught art classes through a private after school program in different school districts and found so many young children that just couldn't grasp concepts they should have known long ago. The ones that were far better than the Elgin school system still had problems that would keep me from putting my child there.
